Shalom and Welcome to Beth El Preschool!

Our Preschool was founded in 1956 as a cooperative preschool.  The school became a member of the Maryland Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (MCPPNS) in March of 1960.  The Certification of Approval from the State Board of Education was first received in March 1965.  The Board of Jewish Education also approves the Preschool.

We are a Jewish, developmentally appropriate preschool, where “hands on” leaning is the order of the day.  We are fortunate to have a highly qualified, experienced staff of teachers whose warmth, nurturing, and exciting programming skills provide a wonderful nursery school experience.  Here your child can blossom, grow, and fulfill his or her full potential.

The Preschool is a parent-run cooperative, providing child-centered classrooms in which children and their families are important.  We believe in fostering self-confidence through repeated experiences which help to develop the ability to be independent, to listen to and follow directions, and to solve problems.

We achieve our goals through activity-centered classrooms where learning through play predominates.  The teacher's role is to guide and foster learning and development while overseeing all activities.  Teacher planning, in conjunction with our curriculum guide, provides a busy learning atmosphere where children are encouraged to create, plan, and experiment individually and as a group.

As part of Congregation Beth El, we seek to introduce Judaic culture, religion, and traditions, and to develop positive feelings toward being Jewish.  We observe the Sabbath and holiday celebrations as part of the classroom program.

Our family participation policy provides a unique educational opportunity for parents, teachers, and children to play, work, and grow together.
